The bear had climbed a tree in someone's yard. Wildlife officers put a trampoline under the tree before shooting a tranquilizer at the bear in order to break its fall.
"About two weeks ago, all the bears left the mid elevations and came down to the low elevations for cherries," said FWP biologist Jamie Jonkel. "Now they're getting into garbage and getting trapped and lost in town."
The bear fell and bounced off the trampoline onto the ground.
The bear slept it off before being released Thursday. It was not hurt in the fall. Wildlife officers say that when he was let go, he was energetic and perky.
